Berlin tariff zones
In and around Berlin, the VBB Berlin-Brandenburg public transport network tariff applies. This means that if you want to use different transport services, you just need one ticket. The whole area of the VBB transport network is divided into sub-areas, each of the same size.
Zone A:Berlin's inner city up to and including the S-Bahn ring
Zone B: beyond the S-Bahn ring up to the city boundary
Zone C: Greater Berlin (area approx. 15 km around the Land Berlin), including the city of Potsdam
Tickets and fares
Single tickets, regular and reduced fares: The validity of single tickets for adults (regular fare) and for children from 6 to 14 years (reduced fare) depends on where you are travelling. Single tickets entitle you to travel with any number of changes in the direction of the destination. Within the validity of the single ticket (120 minutes in Berlin), you may interrupt your journey as often as you wish. Return and round trips are not permitted. For the Berlin Zone AB, blocks of 4 single tickets are available for 8 Euro (reduced fare 5.30 Euro).
Short trip ticket:In Berlin, single tickets for short trips are valid in all Berlin zones for up to three stops on the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn or up to six stops on the bus or tram. When travelling on the Express Bus, stops which are not serviced also count. Changing is only possible from S- to U-Bahn and vice versa. Interruptions and return trips are not possible.
Day tickets:Day tickets are valid for any number of trips within the zones selected. They are valid on the day they have been validated until the following day 3 a.m.

Children and prams
Children under the age of 6 are generally carried free of charge. If you have a VBB Environment Pass (available for 7 days, a month, by subscription or as annual ticket) you are entitled to travel with one adult and up to three children aged 6 to 14 free of charge on Mondays to Fridays from 8 p.m. and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. A pram is also included in the fare.
Bicycles can be carried in designated wagons of the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, trams and the regional railway provided there is enough space available (if necessary, this will be determined by staff). If space is limited, priority is given to prams and people using wheelchairs. The transport services are not obliged to carry passengers with bicycles. For those who want to take along a bicycle only occasionally, a bicycle ticket is the right choice. The price depends on the selected tariff zones. People travelling more frequently by bike may choose to purchase a monthly ticket for bikes.
When travelling with dogs, you will need a reduced fare ticket for each dog travelling with you (exception is made for small dogs which can be transported in appropriate containers). Holders of day tickets, small group tickets, group day tickets for pupils and season tickets can take along one dog free of charge. For each further dog you will need a reduced fare ticket. Guide dogs for the blind accompanying a blind person or in training travel free of charge.
